Phantom Galleries

3,259 Bones Interpretations (and Misinterpretations) of Natural History
by the students in Art 13, 3-Dimensional Concepts, sections 4 and 5, at San Jose State University. Instructor: Shannon Wright.

The animal (and mutant) skeletons in this exhibition were made (one bone at a time) using aluminum foil, masking tape and wire.  The students used as their models animal skeletons borrowed from the Science Resource Center at San Jose State University, and altered the scale and other aspects as they saw fit.

Many thanks to Terry Cunniff, David Gutierrez and Tony May for their help with the installation, and to the students who helped to transport and install skeletons. Thanks also to Wyn Joe, director of the Science Resource Center, and to Deborah Wijas from the Art Graduate Office.
